Happy Saturday!

I'm going to be doing a little maintenance today. It will likely cause a tiny interruption of service (specifically for www.dreamwidth.org) on the order of 2-3 minutes while some settings propagate. If you're on a journal page, that should still work throughout!

If it doesn't work, the rollback plan is pretty quick, I'm just toggling a setting on how traffic gets to the site. I'll update this post if something goes wrong, but don't anticipate any interruption to be longer than 10 minutes even in a rollback situation.

You've heard of dragon ! 8, now get ready for cat! Rose.

"Whoa there!" The Doctor lightly touched the white cat's paw, guarding it from touching the glowing red button on the console. " Can't have you touching that. Never know what would happen." He gave the cat a gentle pet and was rewarded in return with a look that screamed the embodiment of grumpiness.

"Sorry, Rose." Running one hand through the spikes of his hair, The doctor reached into his coat pockets with the other. "Right! Let's see: sonic screwdriver, ooh need to recharge that, pack of crisps, moon rocks, Aha! Here we are!" He pulled out a blue and green ball of yarn, tossing it onto the floor. " Knew I had one somewhere. I used to knit. Did I ever tell you that?"

Rose simply meowed, her attention temporarily occupied by the yarn.

The Doctor returned to the console, his fingers dancing across a series of knobs and buttons. "I've got to figure this out" he said to himself. Though he had a germ of an idea.

That last planet they'd gone to . Oh, what was it? Felis-9? Where Rose had gotten scratched by their emperor and sent to hospital ? One injection of medicinal cat nip later, Rose Tyler now crawled on all fours and left little " gifts" in the corridors for him.

He thought about taking her back there. A double shot could reverse it. Maybe. He just needed to...

A loud purr came from the corner of the room. Rose playing contently with the yarn, leaving it unwinding almost in a pattern.

He raced over to her, carefully picking her up. "Good girl."

Today's challenge: Reversal!

Write a scene with one of your favorite or most common ideas, but switch around how you usually do it. Some ideas:

1. If you write hurt/comfort with Character A getting hurt and Character B providing comfort, write it with Character B getting hurt and Character A providing comfort.

2. If you write AUs for Fandom X, think of a fandom set in one of those AUs and write those characters in a Fandom X AU. (What does that mean??? For example, instead of writing X-Files characters in a Regency AU, choose a fandom in the Regency such as Bridgerton and write the Bridgerton characters as paranormal investigators in the 1990s. Wow that's hard to picture.)

3. If the trope is Character G getting in trouble and Character H saving them, write a scene where Character H gets in trouble and Character G saves them.

Apparently I just need something utterly silly to focus on right now. :) So have this ) set timer for 10 minutes).

I popped Eight and Charley in the Genremixer and got " Fantasy and Animal transformation".

Charley stared down at the tiny, green creature currently dozing around her feet like a lap dog. She watched as every few seconds, a puff of smoke would exit his nose.

"Doctor?" she asked, voice barely above a whisper so as not to wake him. " Can you understand me? "

In response, Charley got what sounded like a purr.

Well, thought Charley, that at least answers that. The real question was: what to do with him? Of all the things she'd learnt in school, how to care for your friend who had suddenly been cursed into a dragon was not apparently something an Edwardian lady needed to know. There had to be a book in the library about it. Oh, if she could remember a lot of the fairy stories about dragons! One had a thorn in its wing. Or perhaps that was a lion?

A short series of growls and a quick blast of smoke interrupted her musings.

" Doctor, I don't know what you want" she commented apologetic.

The tiny green dragon sniffed at the cup of tea she'd left on the table.

"Oh, you want tea, do you?" Some things didn't change, and she could use a little more.

"I'm going to the kitchen. Do growl if you need me."

(A/N: I am picturing the Doctor as a drake. Also, the story Charley is thinking of is Androcles and the Lion)
